Terms of Service

Effective 2026-04-13

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Auto-Lift web application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Service provides vehicle-market intelligence sourced from public US government data (NHTSA, state DMV open-data portals, FHWA, US Census including American Community Survey 5-Year aggregates), weather data, and AI-assisted enrichment. Outputs include fleet estimates, maintenance forecasts, revenue projections, reference VIN data, and ZIP-level demographic overlays (aggregate income, age, race/ethnicity, and poverty statistics). Many numbers are statistical estimates; data provenance is surfaced on every result. The Service is informational — not a substitute for direct verification with the vehicle owner or state authority.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide a valid email address and promptly update any changes. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or redistribute the Service or its data beyond the features the product explicitly provides.
  • Use the Service to build a competing product or dataset.
  • Upload, scan, or submit data you do not have the right to process.
  • Attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or other security controls.
  • Use the Service to track or surveil individuals without authorization, or for any unlawful, harassing, or discriminatory purpose.
  • Use demographic overlays (income, age, race/ethnicity, poverty, or related Census aggregates) to make or facilitate decisions about housing, credit, insurance, employment, education, or public accommodations that are regulated by fair-housing, fair-lending, anti-discrimination, or equal-opportunity laws (including but not limited to the US Fair Housing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and analogous state and local laws). The overlays are provided for market-sizing and operational planning, not for individual-level eligibility or pricing decisions.
  • Represent AI-generated outputs as guaranteed facts.

4. AI-generated content

Parts of the Service use large language models (currently Anthropic Claude) to generate text, extract data from images, and summarize information. Model outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before relying on it for any decision.

5. Data sources & accuracy

The Service combines data from government APIs and commercial services. We make a best-effort attempt to keep data fresh, document methodology (see docs/methodology.md in our public repository), and tag every figure with a provenance badge (verified, derived, estimated, or unknown). We do not guarantee completeness, accuracy, or availability of any dataset.

6. Fees & plans

Plans, fees, and usage limits are described on the Pricing page. Paid plans renew automatically unless cancelled. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing on a going-forward basis with reasonable notice; continuing to use the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Auto-Lift. Data sourced from third parties remains the property of those parties under the terms published by each source (NHTSA, state DMV portals, Open-Meteo, EPA, US Census, OEM investor filings). You retain ownership of data you submit (such as a scanned VIN photo) and grant us a limited license to process it to provide the Service.

8. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party infrastructure: Supabase (database, auth), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (AI), Google Places (nearby-services lookup), Open-Meteo (weather). Their uptime, terms, and policies may affect the Service. See the Privacy Policy for how your data is processed by each.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for material or repeated violations of these Terms, or where continued provision of the Service is infeasible. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends and we may delete associated data after a reasonable retention window.

10. Disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AUTO-LIFT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute is the state and federal courts located in Delaware, USA.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced via the Service and via email to your account address. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
